The current situation concerning the Corona Virus has led to re-arrangements in our workflow in order to offer you our comprehensive service even when working via home office.  

At the moment, all employees of the Office of Admission can be reached via studium(at) We answer your questions and requests as quickly as possible.  
Personal appointments at the offices cannot be made due to the current situation until further notice. We ask for your understanding.  

Students from the University of Salzburg can request the following services via e-mail:

  • Enrolment for additional or advanced study programs
  • Applications for the enrolment for master’s or doctorate’s programs 
  • Deregistration 
  • Applications for the exemption of tuition fees along with the required confirmation – until the 31st of March 2020 for the summer semester 2020 or until the 31st of October for the upcoming winter semester 2020/21 
  • Applications for refunds can be made, but will only be processed later (for the winter semester 2019/20 until the 31st of March; for the summer semester 2020 until the 30th of September 2020). 
  • Transfer to ­­­a new version of the curriculum 
  • Registration or change of registration for graduation or doctoral awards ceremony  

Please make sure that all communication is done via your university e-mail address and that you include your matriculation number and birth date in all requests.  

All other applicants and interested parties:
Despite current restrictions, applications for master’s and doctorate’s programs can be made and will be processed. However, the personal enrolment can only be done once the Office of Admissions is re-opened for the public. We will inform you about the opening hours once the situation has been resolved.  

Information for first enrolment:
Applicants who have filled out the online preregistration can complete the enrolment as soon as the Office of Admission is opened again – this is possible until the 30th of April 2020. Please check the information on the homepage of the University, as it is updated regularly.

    According to the Shanghai Rankings 2020 Salzburg's Political Science Department was ranked amongst the top 100, together with only four other German universities and the University of Vienna.     How do city dwellers react to environmental migrants from rural areas, especially in developing countries? Salzburg's political scientist Gabriele Spilker worked with international team and interviewed 2400 people in Kenya and Vietnam. The study was published on Monday, 22nd June 2020 in the journal Nature Climate Change.
    From October 2020 the University of Salzburg will be offering the new Bachelor's degree course „Materials and Sustainability“. The course is aimed at those who are interested in materials science and want to face the current challenges of climate changel, scarcity of resources and sustainability and who are interested in law, economics and social sciences in addition to their scientific interests.
    The university has gone public with its new logo. This follows an intensive brand building process: „At the turn of the year 2019/2020 we developed the communication strategy KOM PLUS 2020 “, explained Rector Hendrik Lehnert.
    The theological faculty of the University of Salzburg is offering a new curriculum in Catholic Theology for new students from the winter semester of 20/21, with a reduction in the attendance time and the acceleration of the the bachelor's degree from eight to six semesters.

    01.09.-12.09.2020, Due to the current pandemic situation the ditact_womens IT summer studies of the University of Salzburg will take place a week later than planned, from the 01.09.-12.09.2020. Most of the courses will be held online.
