University course "Master of Arts in Syriac Theology"

The university course "Master of Arts in Syriac Theology" is aimed at both, members of the churches of Syrian tradition worldwide who want to train as theologians for teaching and pastoral work, and at theologians, historians, orientalists and archaeologists who want to specialize in Syrian theology, tradition and culture.

The ULG MAST is taught in English and focuses on the Syriac Aramaic language and literary skills; Syriac theology, exegesis, liturgy, spirituality and church history; religious studies, pastoral theology and canon law. The appropriate skills will be achieved by studying following contents:

a)    Syriac Aramaic language and literature studies
b)    Syriac Bible studies and exegetical methods
c)    Critical reflection of historical and current events in the Syriac christianity from late antiquity to the present situation in the home countries and the diaspora
d)    Syriac liturgy and sacramental theology
e)    Syriac spirituality, hagiography and monastic literature
f)     Patristic studies and systematic theology
g)    Canon law, practical theology and religious education in ecumenical and interreligious contexts .

    Sharing in favor of ArMut - Helping single parents in acute financial emergencies.
    On Wednesday, the 27th of November, 2019, the University of Salzburg warmly congratulated 56 graduates who celebrated their graduations and/or completions of doctoral theses.
    Once again, the Universitätsbibliothek Salzburg will be opening the Advent 24 Windows in the Hofstallgasse and in the online Advent calendar. Texts and images may "brighten your inspiration" in time for Christmas.
    The physician and psychologist Hendrik Lehnert was solemnly introduced to his position as Rector of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg on FR 22.11.19. The new rector will be assisted by materials chemist, Nicola Hüsing; innovation expert, Katja Hutter; financial expert, Barbara Romauer; and sociologist, Martin Weichbold.
