AG Finger - Bild 1

Our group researches mainly geoscience-related problems. Major topics are:

  • Geology and plate tectonic evolution of the Bohemian Massif and the Central European Variscan Orogen.
  • Petrogenesis of granitic rocks.
  • Chemical Th-U-Pb dating of accessory minerals with electron beam methods.

The range of methodical approaches is broad and includes:

  • Outcrop descriptions and geological mapping.
  • Petrographic investigations (thin section microscopy, XRD).
  • Microscale studies of rock fabrics and mineral reaction textures by means of SEM/EDX.
  • Whole rock geochemistry (mainly XRF).

Recent research projects:

  • In search of geodynamic causes for post-collisional high heat flow and granitic                  plutonism in the south-western Bohemian Massif (funded by the Austrian FWF)
  • Factors controlling the formation and breakdown of monazite in metamorphic rocks (funded by the Austrian FWF)

During games when there are no fans in local football stadiums, deep acoustic insights into the inner workings of coaches can clearly be heard in TV broadcasts, due to the lack of background noise.Nevertheless, emotional outbursts and arguments among players and coaches have decreased considerably overall, in corona-related “behind closed door matches". Salzburg researchers calculated this using the example of games at FC Red Bull Salzburg. In contrast, more goals were scored across Austria.

The new edition of the journal for practical philosophy is now online, with its finger on the pulse is also takes into account one topic that is shaping us like no other:the Corona pandemic. It is one of the two main focuses of the issue and its considerable scope not only reflects the importance of this topic, but also the real need to reflect philosophically and ethically on the diverse consequences of this pandemic.
With the PLUS Talk, a new form of communication was introduced to the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg in 2020. Within the framework of this format members of the rectorate discuss certain key issues with employees of the PLUS, students and public representatives. The discussions take place LIVE and offer participants the opportunity to ask questions on current topics.
After talks with the ministry and intensive consultation with the deans, the rectorate of the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg has decided that exams should generally only be conducted online at the moment. The following points apply here:
INTERDISCIPLINARY CONGRESS under the leadership of Reinhard Heinisch, Reinhard Klaushofer, Christoph Kühberger and Margit Reiter

As part of the series „MUSIC & MEDICINE“ the cooperation focus group science and culture is organising another online lecture on the 3rd February 2021.
The Law Academy at the University of Salzburg is offering three online seminars in January 2021 on the topics of an update to competition law (antitrust law and UWG) on Friday, 15 January 2021, an update to company law on Friday, 22 January 2021 and an update to warranty law on Friday, 29th January 2021.
