German as a foreign language

Course information

We offer German as a Foreign Language courses at 10 different levels: 4 courses for basic users (Grundstufe), 4 courses for independent users (Aufbaustufe) and 2 courses for advanced users (Oberstufe).

The courses for basic, independent and advanced users (Grundstufe, Aufbaustufe and Oberstufe) comprise of 3 hours a week plus one hour tutorial, an equivalent of 4.5 ECTS-credits.

In addition, the Language Centre offers in the winter semester the 2-hour courses "Learn German and make radio programmes" and "Academic German: Oral Skills" and in the summer semester the 2-hour courses "Cultural Discoveries: Austria and the German speaking countries" and "Academic German: Written Skills"

Course requirements:
Min. 80% attendance, active participation, written assignments, mid-term and end-term test, oral exam

There are placement tests to assess your language competence for each course from basic level II (Grundstufe II).

    Sharing in favor of ArMut - Helping single parents in acute financial emergencies.
    On Wednesday, the 27th of November, 2019, the University of Salzburg warmly congratulated 56 graduates who celebrated their graduations and/or completions of doctoral theses.

    Once again, the Universitätsbibliothek Salzburg will be opening the Advent 24 Windows in the Hofstallgasse and in the online Advent calendar. Texts and images may "brighten your inspiration" in time for Christmas.
    The conference is organized by the Austrian Institute of Human Rights and takes place in the Edmundsburg am Mönchsberg, Europasaal, 16:00-19:00. Admission is free! Registration required under menschenrechte@sbg.ac.at.
    The physician and psychologist Hendrik Lehnert was solemnly introduced to his position as Rector of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg on FR 22.11.19.
