Admission Requirements To be admitted to the Masters Degree Chemistry and Physics
of Materials, applicants must have either completed the
PLUS-TUM  Joint Degree Bachelor of Engineering Science
or an equivalent study course in Science or Engineering in an
accredited  tertiary institution. Suitable study courses include:
Physics, Chemistry,  Materials Science/Engineering,
Nanosciences, Mineralogy, Chemical Engineering etc.

What will I learn?

The International Masters degree course, Chemistry and Physics of Materials, is an interdisciplinary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)  course with a focus on teaching students about the development and design, synthesis and characterisation of natural and synthetic functional materials. A key part of the course is to teach the link between chemical, physical and sometimes biologial  materials properties and the derived function for a particular component (e.g. mechanical stability, environmental impact etc). In addition to this, students will also learn about how materials can be selected and processed from a raw material to a product. An understanding of the materials processing cycle will be used to develop an awareness of issues such as "Sustainability and Recyclability" which are fundamental in the development of todays materials.

The interdisciplinary nature of the Masters course, Chemistry and Physics of Materials, gives graduates a broad spectrum of possible careers, ranging from working within the field of Materials Science/Engineering to working in Service Industries and Management.

How is the course structured?

The Masters Chemistry and Physics of Materials curriculum is made up of a total of 90 ECTS points spread over 3 semesters. 27 ECTS points come from three compulsory modules (Chemistry of Materials, Physics of Materials and Materials Characterisation). A further 20 ECTS points comes from the selection of 2 of the 6 optional modules and 10 ECTS points made up from  courses from any recognised tertiary institution. The Masters theses, exam and seminars make up the rest of the points.

    During games when there are no fans in local football stadiums, deep acoustic insights into the inner workings of coaches can clearly be heard in TV broadcasts, due to the lack of background noise.Nevertheless, emotional outbursts and arguments among players and coaches have decreased considerably overall, in corona-related “behind closed door matches". Salzburg researchers calculated this using the example of games at FC Red Bull Salzburg. In contrast, more goals were scored across Austria.

    The new edition of the journal for practical philosophy is now online, with its finger on the pulse is also takes into account one topic that is shaping us like no other:the Corona pandemic. It is one of the two main focuses of the issue and its considerable scope not only reflects the importance of this topic, but also the real need to reflect philosophically and ethically on the diverse consequences of this pandemic.
    With the PLUS Talk, a new form of communication was introduced to the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg in 2020. Within the framework of this format members of the rectorate discuss certain key issues with employees of the PLUS, students and public representatives. The discussions take place LIVE and offer participants the opportunity to ask questions on current topics.
