What will I learn?

The BSc degree course in Informatics offers a profound scientific education with a strong practical approach in the fields of information technologies and its areas of application. Informatics deals with the complex artificial systems for applications in almost all areas of life. In order to control these systems, i.e., to create, maintain and develop them, students will learn the theoretical and practical basics required to do so. These are, e.g., concepts of programming, the functional principles of digital computers, operating systems, networks and databases. Each of these principles depends on the respective formal foundations.

Which career opportunities do I have?

Graduates of the BSc degree course in Informatics are skilled to work in many fields of the conception, creation, extension and maintenance of complex IT systems. Occupations include the development of hardware and software systems, executive positions in IT departments, conception and management of projects in the IT area, IT consulting, trainings, and collaboration in research activities. All of these careers can be pursued in enterprises with various areas of activity and also in public administration.

Why Salzburg?

In the BSc degree course in Informatics at the University of Salzburg, students acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also learn about methods and concepts independent from the technical state of the art. Thus, students will be excellently prepared for their future careers. The flexible module system allows students to gain qualifications in those areas they are interested in the most.
