The Language Centre was founded in 1999. In the first years, the focus of activities was on the conception of course models for autonomous foreign language learning. Since then, the conceptual orientation has shifted to the promotion of plurilingualism.

Language courses at the Language Centre

Since the academic year 2002/03, the Language Centre has been offering a wide range of language courses to all students and staff of the PLUS and the Mozarteum University as well as to all external persons interested in learning foreign languages in an academic context. The range of courses has more than doubled since the course system was introduced. Currently, courses are offered in 12 languages: mainly European, but also some non-European languages, e.g. Arabic and Japanese.

Over the past 18 years, we have continuously developed and adapted the range of courses offered to meet the needs of our students as best as possible. In addition to a wide range of general language courses, which are based on the competence descriptions of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), we are particularly interested in the development of new, innovative course concepts as well as the development of course concepts for academic (language) competences ("Academic Literacy across the Curriculum").

Our quality assurance system  guarantees that you will be offered high-quality language courses at the Language Centre.
