Dear Students and Visitors at the Faculty of Natural Science University Salzburg!

I welcome you on behalf of all members at our faculty! We are pleased that you are interested in our studies.

Approximately 5.000 students take advantage from our offer of currently 8 Bachelor's and 13 Master's fields of study (Psychology, Biology, Medical Biology, Molecular Biosciences, Computer Science, Applied Image and Signal Processing, Chemistry and Physics of Materials, Geography, Applied Geoinformatics, Engineer and Material Science, Mathematics, Geology, Data Science), 5 Secondary School Teacher Accreditations (Biology and Environmental Studies, Geography and Economics, Informatics and Informatics Management, Mathematics, Physics ) and PhD studies in all these subjects (including three externally funded Doctoral Programmes).

In addition to offer a diversity of courses, it is our endeavor to involve students in all stages of their studies in our research activities.

To emphasize the national and international attractiveness of our faculty, we offer a variety of courses given in English.

Furthermore we support through a number of programmes the international mobility of our students, which is becoming increasingly important these days in terms of career prospects.

We hope to provide you with our offer the necessary commitment, motivation and joy for the study and to create a good basis for the use of the wide range of career opportunities.

    Around 200 representatives from all Austrian universities and colleges met at the University of Salzburg to discuss developments in international cooperation.
    On 22 November, 2017, the kick-off event for a joint project of the University of Salzburg and the Frauenforum Salzkammergut on "Women's Work in View - The History of the Workers in the Ebensee Spinning Mill and Weaving Mill" will take place in the Heimatmuseum Ebensee.
    The university fitness center presents itself in new clothes. Six years after its opening, it has now been expanded over the summer.

    On 14 November, 2017, the Salzburg University Library presented its sixth publication (»Carved in Stone - Salzburg Baroque Inscriptions«) in the series uni:bibliothek to more than 350 interested visitors in the großen Aula of the University of Salzburg.
    Dr. Thomas Berger is this year's winner of the GÖCH Best Habilitation Research Award of 2017 awarded by the Society of Austrian Chemists (GÖCh) during the occasion of the 17th Austrian Chemistry Days, held 25 - 28 September, 2017, at the University of Salzburg.
    ICANN is considered the "government" of the Internet. This NGO ensures that access and retrieval function smoothly and it awards the so-called Top Level Domains.     Ingrid Gilcher-Holtey, University of Bielefeld, will give a talk on the Artist as Intellectual in the tradition of the avant-garde (KunstQuartier, W&K-Atelier, Bergstr. 12a, 1st floor) on 1 December, at 19:30.
