  • General Information
    If the University Library of Salzburg cannot provide you with a book, PhD dissertation, journal or journal article that you need, it will gladly order the desired item for you from a different national or international library. Please check our own holdings via UBsearch, our E-Journal Library EZB and our card catalogues before placing an interlibrary loan (ILL) order and make sure that the item you need is really not available at the University Library of Salzburg. Please note that our library offers many journal articles online as full texts. The University Library of Salzburg allows school libraries from the province of Salzburg (excluding school libraries from the city of Salzburg) to place ILL orders.

  • Delivery Time
    The delivery of an ILL item takes from a few days to several weeks! This is due to a complex handling process and the transport by mail. ILL orders are processed in our own house promptly, and we place the ILL order at the partner library at the latest on the following workday. From this point onwards, we can no longer influence the order. We will instantly send you a notice by mail or email as soon as the ordered item will have arrived at our library.

  • Placing an ILL Order
    Please check our library catalogue (UBsearch) to see if your desired item is available at our library. If this is not the case, place an ILL order at the Fernleihe of our UBsearch. Please sign in to your personal online library account for an inter-library loan.

  • Ordering Books or Articles/Chapters from a Book
    Please fill in the ILL form for books (Buchbestellung). Fields marked by a red asterisk are mandatory. The more information you provide, the faster the ordering process is. Please select if you want to borrow the desired book from national libraries only. International inter-library loans are more expensive. You can find a list of your ILL-orders in your personal online library account.

  • Ordering a Journal Article
    Please fill in the ILL form for journal articles (Zeitschriftenartikel). Fields marked by a red asterisk are mandatory. The more information you provide, the faster your ordering process is. Please select if you want to borrow the desired article from national libraries only. International inter-library loans are more expensive. You can find a list of your ILL-orders in your personal online library account.

  • Picking up Your ILL Item
    We will instantly send you a notice by mail or email as soon as the ordered item will have arrived at our library. ILL items, including copies of journal articles, are to be collected at the loans desk (Leihstelle) on the ground floor of the Main Library. Please note that the borrowing library might ask you to read the ordered item in our reading rooms only. Unfortunately we can neither influence nor alter this decision. You will have to return your ILL item four weeks after its arrival at the latest.

  • Document Delivery Service
    Document delivery services are commercial companies which make copies of articles from periodicals or books and send them to the patron for money. Private patrons can use these services. Orders are placed by the patron, not the library.

    At the end of March, in the middle of the Corona pandemic, Croatia was hit by a severe earthquake. With this special call ÖAW (Austrian Academy of Sciences) sets a humanitarian sign and does its utmost best to support scientific collaboration with Croatian colleagues.
    The International Data Week - a top class specialist congress with 900 participants from the field of data science - will take place for the first time in October 2023 in Europe. The city of Salzburg was able to beat numerous other applicants to be the hosts of the event. The University of Salzburg is an important cooperation partner.
    The hearings will take place Wednesday, 8th July at 10 am in lecture theatre 103 (3rd floor) in the Faculty of Catholic Theology, Universitätsplatz 1.
    From October 2020 the University of Salzburg will be offering the new bachelor's degree „Medical Biology“. The course aims to convey the diversity of the biomedical science disciplines and therefore facilitates a multi-faceted, biological understanding for topics which are essential for medicine.The course content ranges from the small scale structure of the cell and organs and organ systems to the biology of complex interpersonal interactions.
    The Sarah-Samuel-Prize for short prose 2020 goes to Thomas Stangl for his book „Die Geschichte des Körpers (The History of the Body)“ (Droschl Verlag, Graz).
    Scientists from the University of Salzburg support the initiative "Scientist4Future Österreich" and the climate change petition by publishing quotes.
    How do city dwellers react to environmental migrants from rural areas, especially in developing countries? Salzburg's political scientist Gabriele Spilker worked with international team and interviewed 2400 people in Kenya and Vietnam. The study was published on Monday, 22nd June 2020 in the journal Nature Climate Change.
    From October 2020 the University of Salzburg will be offering the new Bachelor's degree course „Materials and Sustainability“. The course is aimed at those who are interested in materials science and want to face the current challenges of climate changel, scarcity of resources and sustainability and who are interested in law, economics and social sciences in addition to their scientific interests.
    The university has gone public with its new logo. This follows an intensive brand building process: „At the turn of the year 2019/2020 we developed the communication strategy KOM PLUS 2020 “, explained Rector Hendrik Lehnert.
    The theological faculty of the University of Salzburg is offering a new curriculum in Catholic Theology for new students from the winter semester of 20/21, with a reduction in the attendance time and the acceleration of the the bachelor's degree from eight to six semesters.
    150 participants have already taken the opportunity to register for more than 50 courses on IT and digitialisation at the ditact_women's IT summer studies at the University of Salzburg, which will take place from the 01.09.-12.09.2020.Registration is still possible until the 12. July and then the remaining places will be taken as last minute reservations.
