13 – 15 September: Salzburg Conference for Analytical Philosophy

Some 90 international philosophy students, ranging from Bachelor to Doctorate levels, present and discuss their current philosophical questions and answers in the Unipark Nonntal.

Auf dem Programm stehen Themen zur Erkenntnistheorie, Ethik, Logik, Wissenschaftstheorie, Ontologie und Metaphysik, Sprachphilosophie, Philosophie des Geistes, Politischen Philosophie sowie zur Geschichte der Philosophie. Die SOPhiA ist mittlerweile der größte Studierendenkongress weltweit. Die Abstracts der einzelnen Vorträge stehen auf der Webseite unter "Programme" und durch Klicken auf die Titel einsehen.  

In diesem Jahr gibt es vier Plenarvorträge von Stathis Psillos, "Laws and Powers in the Frame of Nature", Michela Massimi, "What is perspectival pluralism?", Johannes L. Brandl,  "Why Language Matters for Self-Awareness: The Conceptual and the Narrative Route", und Christian List,  "Free will as a higher-level phenomenon

    Dr. Maddalena Barenghi, University of Salzburg, Department of History, will hold a lecture on 22 November at the China Center, on "Writing of Events Past to Understand the Ages to Come: An Introduction to History Writing in Imperial China".
    The eighth conference of the "Salzburg Interdisciplinary Discourses" on the subject "From 'Beautiful Diversity' to Precarious Heterogeneity." Educational processes in plural society takes place on 30 November and 1 December, 2017, in HS 2.407 of the School of Education in the Unipark Nonntal (Erzabt-Klotz-Straße 1, Salzburg, 2nd floor).
    Ingrid Gilcher-Holtey, University of Bielefeld, will give a talk on the Artist as Intellectual in the tradition of the avant-garde (KunstQuartier, W&K-Atelier, Bergstr. 12a, 1st floor) on 1 December, at 19:30.
