Orientation Days and Welcome for First Semester Students

The orientation days for first semester students at the University of Salzburg will take place from 24 to 26 September in the Großen Universitätsaula. This Tuesday, they opened with the "Welcome Day" in cooperation with the city and province of Salzburg.

The City and University of Salzburg Welcome International Exchange Students

More than 380 exchange students from more than 50 countries begin their studies abroad at the University of Salzburg at the beginning of the winter semester 2019/20. Bürgermeister-Stv. Dr. Barbara Unterkofler, Dr. Sabine Veits-Falk and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Sylvia Hahn welcomed the students on Monday in the Marmorsaal des Schlosses Mirabell in the "City of Knowledge Salzburg". The evening was musically framed by three gifted musicians of the Universität Mozarteum.

University of Salzburg Achieves Top Rankings in Research

In the latest issue of U-Multirank, the University of Salzburg is represented with the subjects Life Sciences, Information Technology, and Mathematics. In comparison with the other participating universities, these subject areas have often achieved very good rankings.

Do oral contraceptives influence the ability to think?

The neurobiologist Belinda Pletzer from the University of Salzburg is researching the effect of contraceptive pills on the brain. In an extensive study with 300 subjects, it should be determined whether and in what way this drug influences their thinking. The top Salzburg researcher was awarded a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) for her project. The high-profile EU funding was endowed with 1.5 million Euro.

    The Austrian Academy of Sciences has awarded Mag. Dr. Daniel Ehrmann, university assistant and doctoral candidate in the Department of German Studies, four year APART-Grant, which he will start on the1. 3. 2021.During this time he will complete his post doctoral thesis project „Aggregation. Relationaliity and the Constellations of Literature (1650 – 1950). Toward a medium range historical model.

    The project funding programme for research between PLUS and South East Asian partner universities, ASEA-UNINET Call 2021-2022 (Project implementation period: 1st October 2021 - 30th September 2022) is now open.
    Prof. Dr. Jude Lal Fernando, Assistant Professor at the Irish School of Ecumenics at Trinity College Dublin, will be holding lectures in SS 2021 on the topic of "Interreligious Relations in Asia" at the Centre for Intercultural Theology in the area of Religious Studies.
    The programme for the summer semester is now online and the courses will be released shortly. We have improved our entrepreneurship courses. Register by the 14th March 2021.
    The Centre for Intercultural Theology and the Study of Religions and the University of Fribourg are organising an interdisciplinary online conference from the 16th-17th April 2021 (Start 16th April 2021 at 14:15).
